Thank you so, so much, Vanya, for all these insights into and translations of Anton Chekhov -- of the related Russian writers, too, but especially Chekhov. He is my favorite writer, besides Scott Fitzgerald. Chekhov -- his thought and his writing -- is unmatched and probably will forever be. Please keep these coming. I know your research and translations represent a lot of work. Pardon my ignorance, but do you plan to put these translations into a book, or have you already?
Thanks, Vanya. Please keep us posted. A new and contemporary translation of Chekhov's stories would be refreshing, especially from one who knows interior Russia, and therefore has a closer look at the Russia of Chekhov's day and would more closely understand his thinking and expressions.
I have read some of her stories and enjoyed them and was going to translate some as well. I haven’t looked into the letters tho (if there are any) but it’s actually a great idea, thank you, would be interesting to dig (especially if I have at least one reader for that already haha)
I'm happy to help if you want to do that yourself as well. Or if you have in mind any particular story or a few you'd like me to translate, please share!
Very much enjoyed this!

Fantastic, Vanya!
Amazing. thank you doesn't begin to cover; but thank you!
(On an unrelated note-do you happen to like Teffi? feel free to answer elsewhere if here is the wrong place)
Cheers!

oh that'd be great. Because I re-read just recently(I really love her, stories and memoirs etc...not sure I ever encountered the letters)
and I wanted to translate some too, but as I read I has this feeling of defeat before I started, it's too hard, except for maybe a couple.
I think you'd do much better job.
I did see a translation that I kinda "oh could be better" but then "but not by me, probably"

Oh thank you. I'll think (because too many, frankly) and try to choose.
✨✨✨
Ahh thank you for this Vsnya
